When will Game of Thrones’ final season air?

Somehow i always knew that Game of Thrones will not air in 2018, many rumours have been circulating the internet since after the end of season 7 where we saw the Great Wall fall and the Night King plus his army walk through.

But finally an Official Airdate has been set for the long awaited Game of Thrones Season 8. I know you have guessed it already, its the date we always expect to see game of thrones all this years. The release date for game of thrones season 8 is April 2019 as confirmed by this tweet!

Long ago, the HBO in an official statement had confirmed that it wasnt going to air until 2019. however, we couldn’t stand the anxiety we had to read all those transcripts for the final season, i lost myself in it too.

The statement goes like this:

“The epic fantasy series Game of Thrones will return for its six-episode, eighth and final season in 2019.

“David Benioff & D.B. Weiss, David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik will be the directors for the new season. Writers for the new season are David Benioff & D.B. Weiss, Bryan Cogman and Dave Hill.”

“The executive producers of the series are David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, Carolyn Strauss, Frank Doelger and Bernadette Caulfield. Co-executive producers are Bryan Cogman, Guymon Casady, Vince Gerardis and George R.R. Martin.”

Sophie Turner who plays the role of Sansa Stark, also confirmed to us, Game of Thrones fans in her statement; “I’m really excited. Game Of Thrones comes out in 2019.”

She also said that the world recognized King of all tv shows still has “six or seven months left” at the time, “we started in October, so we’re maybe like a tenth of the way through.” She added. But we couldn’t help it, We are only human and going through those scripts was natural.

A huge clue about the end of Game of Thrones dropped by bryan cogman after speaking of Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).

“It’s about all of these disparate characters coming together to face a common enemy, dealing with their own past, and defining the person they want to be in the face of certain death.”

Bryan Cogman dropped the following teaser;

“It’s an incredibly emotional, haunting, bittersweet final season and I think it honours very much what [author George RR Martin] set out to do – which is flipping this kind of story on its head.”

Has the script for Game Of Thrones season 8 been written?

In 2017, Casey confirmed that the script of game of thrones was ready. But, as usual, nobody can say anything about anything.

How long will the episodes be in Game Of Thrones season 8?

We are going to see fewer but longer episodes. No one knows the exact time for sure as it may vary within the episodes. But This is what Casey Bloys of HBO said about the length of the episodes.

“Two hours per episode seems like it would be excessive, but it’s a great show, so who knows?”

Liam Cunningham (Ser Davos Seaworth) added that “[The game of thrones season 8 episodes are] definitely going to be bigger and what I hear is longer.

“We’re filming right up until the summer.”

“When you think about it, up until last season we’d have six months to do ten episodes, so we’re [doing] way more than that for six episodes. So that obviously will translate into longer episodes.”

For sure, we are going to see longer episodes of game of thrones in the season 8, i dont know about you but that means only one thing to me, more game of thrones scenes. Which translates to more pleasure. Lol. I just cant wait!

“Season eight episodes will all I think be longer than 60 minutes. They’ll be dancing around the bigger numbers, I know that for sure.” David said

Will Games of Thrones season 8 be the final season?

Sadly yes. The president of programming at HBO Michael Lombardo has previously said Game Of Thrones would end after eight seasons.

Will there be a game of thrones spin off?
Nobody knows for sure. It will be clear in the end of the season, i sure hope we get something of the sort. Dear Game of thrones, please dont starve us! [Crying]

But do not stress yourselves my dear viewers, Author George R Martin had the following to say to us about the possibility of a spin off, sequel, prequel, or a movie.

“There is certainly no lack of material. There are eight million stories in Westeros as well… and even more in Essos and the lands beyond. A whole world full of stories, waiting to be told… if indeed HBO is interested.”

The following stories could be exploited

1. Aegon’s Conquest
2. The Long Night
3. Maegor the Cruel
4. The Blackfyre Rebellion
5. The Valyrian Freehold

Is it possible to have a movie of game of thrones.

“It might need a feature to tie things up. Something with a feature budget, like $100million for two hours. Those dragons get real big, you know…” George R Martin Said.

Could there be a Game of Thrones revival in the future?

Sadly, we may be saying our last goodbyes to game of thrones at the end of season eight for good. Casey Bloys told the hollywood Reporter that the possiblity of a spin off is just not in their agenda.

He clearly stated that its not going to happen. “This story, a song of ice and fire, is done. There is no revival, reboot, spinoff talk.” The air smells good though.

Its as if he is saying that there is a possibilty for a different story, maybe its my game of thrones addicted mind thats deceiving me, but it feels good to think that the game of thrones has not ended yet.

Hopefully, We may see a sister series in the coming years.
