Super Falcons Win the AWCON 2018

Having won the Africa Women Cup of Nations twice, Nigeria's Super Falcons did not relent.

Super Falcons defeat Banyana Banyana to win The 11thAfrica Women Cup of Nations (AWCON), Ghana 2018.

The Super falcons of Nigeria on 1 December 2018, won the Africa Women Cup Of Nations (AWCON).

The match ended goalless, after the game went on for the normal 90 minutes (divided by a half time rest of 15 minutes) and 30 minutes of extra time.

Therefore, the only way to clarify the winners of the match is to go to penalty shootouts.

As is the custom in any other football match.

In the Penalties, the Nigerian Women football team scored 4 out of 5 while Banyana Banyana scored 3 out of 5 penalties making Nigeria the victorious team.

And to this result, The President Of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria Congratulated the victorious Super Falcons.

He expressed his pride in them by pointing out their commitment, hardwork and patriotism towards the country.

Moreover, he commended them for having such determination throughout all the matches they played in the AWCON.

The President did this through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina.

“I have never doubted the capacity of Nigerians to excel when given the right support,” he said.

Just an icing on the cake.

To express his happiness on the result of the match, he referred to the Super Falcons victory as the “icing on the cake.”

Because they have won the AWCON 9 times in total, and this is the 3rd time they have won the cup consecutively.

Super Falcon’s qualification to World Tournament.

The President also pointed out that the Nigerian women football team qualified to represent Nigeria at the FIFA Women World Cup tournament in France next year.

After praising them for this victory he expressed that they must keep up their good work and Most Importantly, the Super Falcons have dominated Africa,

What is needed now is to prove themselves worthy of a high post in the world of Women Football.
